FAZELEY
FESTIVAL
29th June 2008

Boy, was it windy.
Most of the day was spent
chasing bits and pieces around the field. Thank goodnes for
willing volunteers.
Stella, Velma and Gwen
and Tracie were invaluable and together we have provided a
cheque for 500.00 pounds for Selly Oak Military Wards.
Thanks girls - we couldn't
have done it without you.
Together with the cheque
we are delivering our usual 6 weekly parcel to to Selly Oak
with donations from everyone. Local people have provided us
with sweets, chocolates, biscuits, socks, tee shirts, jigsaws
and puzzle books such as Sudoku, comics and books. Many of
the books and jigsaws we sell and raise money for other things.
Al, the owner of Debbies Day Boats provided a prize of a day
on one of his hire boats and also gave three brand new DVD
players to the guys in hospital. The local Soroptomists provided
sweets and chocolates and books. The generosity of people
is overwhelming.
THANK YOU

The police were on duty
and look Inspector Staite, the boys have their ties on!!!!

And so were the Fire
Service proudly showing off their Crest.

No one is quite sure
where the American flag came from but we suspect it was to
do with our American Cousins

We are not quite sure
whether Tracie was suffering from heart burn after Brians
hot dogs.
Fazeley Festival brought
together a lot of people who worked very hard to help Purple
Salute and Festival Funds. It was a good day and gave this
years project - Selly Oak Hospital - a well deserved boost.
THANK YOU EVERYONE

The Living Tribute Trail
On the 9th December 2006 at 10.30am the First
of the Living Tribute Trail trees was planted.
The Mayor of Tamworth, Maureen Gant, honored us by planting
our tree in a very special ceremony to mark the first in the
Trail. The tree, an 18ft Oak, was blessed by the Minister
of St. Editha's Church, Alan Baratt.

Successful planting
Our Tamworth Tree was planted in December,
Purple Salute went to the site of the oak and photographed
it as it came into its first leaf in its new site.

The first acorns have appeared on our tree.
The Purple Salute markers will be put in place by the first
anniversary.

We are delighted to announce that on
the 15th March 2007 our 2nd Living Tribute Trail Tree was
planted.
The Civic ceremony was held on 25th
April in St. Lukes Churchyard, Cannock. Dot and Phil Evans,
our Patrons who have taken charge of the Living Tribute Trail,
first planted the tree in Cannock on 15th March. Dot put the
first spade of soil on its roots, something she has wanted
to do as a symbol of her own Pride in our Services. The official
ceremony was attended by representatives from Cannock police
and Fire Services, Moray Simpson of Cannock Forestry Commission
who provided the English Yew and Peter Hart the Minister of
St. Lukes, who gave the blessing. Paul Knight represented
Stafford University. The Mayor of Cannock Keith Bennett planted
our Living Tribute and gave his own moving speech in his support
of all those who 'take that one step more'.
English Yews are a wonderful example
of everlasting Tribute, both for the beauty of their shape
in maturity but also for the life span of up to 4000 years.
An everlasting symbol of Pride in Courage.

Our beautiful Tribute
Tree in St. Luke's churchyard with the Church Tower and a
400 year English Yew behind.
We are delighted to
say that thanks to a generous donor - we now have markers
for the trees and they are to put in place shortly.
